
Cosmetology
The objectives of the Cosmetology Program are to develop in each student the basic knowledge and techniques in hairdressing, hair shaping, permanent waving, hair relaxing, hair coloring, facials, manicuring, nail technology, skin care, and related subjects. The purpose of the Cosmetology Program is to properly train students on all aspects of the cosmetology industry which will result in passing the state board examinations and enjoying a rewarding career in the student's chosen field.

At Valassy Institute of Cosmetology, we support students through every stage of their education, from training to graduation and career placement. In the classroom and student salon, students gain hands-on experience while exploring career paths such as working for leading beauty brands or owning a salon. Valassy-trained stylists help clients look and feel their best while building strong businesses in their communities.
As students master foundational, current, and advanced cosmetology techniques, they build the skills needed for success in the beauty industry.

Practical Training: 1,050
Unassigned / Specialty Practice: 75
Full-Time Completion: Approximately 50 weeks (30 hours/week, Mon–Thu 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Part-Time Completion: Approximately 75 weeks (20 hours/week, Mon–Thu 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM)
The Cosmetology curriculum at Valassy Institute of Cosmetology is fully aligned with the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Board-Approved Curriculum

COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM

Students learn core hair design techniques, including cleansing, styling, and selecting products for different hair types.
In the student salon, they gain hands-on experience and explore career paths such as working for major beauty brands or owning a salon.
As they master foundational, current, and advanced cosmetology techniques, students build the skills needed to:

✔ Work confidently with different hair textures
✔ Perform manicures, pedicures, and basic skin care services
✔ Develop the communication and marketing skills needed to grow a loyal client base
