Enrollment Policy
POLICY ON ENROLLMENT
Candidates for enrollment as a regular student into Valassy Institute of Cosmetology's Cosmetology program must be at least 17 years of age, must have successfully completed high school or obtained a GED certificate, and must not be enrolled in any primary or secondary education. All candidates must provide:

Valid, current government-issued photo identification

High school diploma, GED certificate, or recognized equivalent

Any required documentation requested by the school or licensing agency

Ability to read, write, and speak English
CRIMINAL HISTORY
Criminal history does NOT affect your admissions status at Valassy Institute of Cosmetology. However, the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering may conduct criminal history background checks on all persons who apply for a license. Licenses may be denied based on the nature of the conviction and how long prior to the application the conviction occurred. Individuals may request the
Board review their criminal background before actually applying for a license. Please discuss this with the admissions representative or the Director.
ENROLLMENT SCHEDULES
A candidate for enrollment may register for an informational interview at any time. Potential students are encouraged to set up an appointment with an Enrollment Representative for an interview and a tour of the school. Prior to beginning class, candidates must complete the registration packet, submit proof of age and high school completion, and pay the registration fee of $150.00 and application fee of $25.00.
Classes begin on the first and third Monday of each month, based on availability.
ENROLLMENT TIME
"Enrollment Time" is defined as the time elapsed between the actual starting date and the date on which the student officially terminates enrollment by graduating or withdrawing from the institution. Termination shall occur upon the student's last day of physical attendance at the school.
ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT
The student must sign an enrollment agreement (Contract) agreeing to abide by all rules and regulations in effect or which may become effective at the school during any period of enrollment. Students understand that they will be eligible to take the Mississippi State Board examinations under State Law when they have satisfied all monetary obligations to the school and have received a completion certificate or diploma of graduation from the school.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Valassy Institute of Cosmetology will provide reasonable modifications and/or accommodations for students with disabilities depending on the student's need. Students interested in attending who are in need of accommodations should schedule an appointment with the Director. Documentation must be provided by a medical expert within the last three years and include: A diagnosis of the disability
How the diagnosis was determined (what tests were given and the results)
A clinical summary, which includes an assessment of how the disability will impact the individual in a school environment and what accommodations are recommended
The school will respond to accommodation requests within 15 days of receipt.
TRANSFER STUDENT POLICY
Valassy Institute of Cosmetology may accept transfer hours from another approved institution, subject to review and approval. The school will accept no more than 600 transfer hours for the Cosmetology Program. Transfer students may be required to complete written and/or practical evaluations. Tuition will be calculated based on the number of hours needed to complete the program. A transfer or registration fee may apply.
COURSE TRANSFER POLICY
Transfer students who join with accepted credit hours will have their program length adjusted accordingly. The student's contract will reflect the reduced number of hours required for completion. All transferred hours must be from an accredited or board-approved institution. The school reserves the right to evaluate and accept or decline transferred hours based on program equivalency.
RE-ENTRY POLICY
Students seeking re-admittance to Valassy Institute of Cosmetology must be in good standing. Those who were terminated or expelled may reapply after a 30-day period. Each case is reviewed individually, with consideration given to the reason for termination and justification for return. Re-admittance interviews are held on campus with the school Director.
STUDENT CONSUMER INFORMATION POLICY
The student should consider carefully all aspects of their decision to attend Valassy Institute of Cosmetology. Federal laws require schools to publish all pertinent facts for public information. One such law is Section 493A of the Federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended by Public Law 94-482 in 1977. Valassy Institute of Cosmetology is licensed under the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering (MSBCB). The school adheres to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the disposal rule of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) of 2003. All students receive a copy of this catalog prior to enrollment.
MILITARY RE-ADMISSION
For a student to be considered for Military Re-Admission, the student must have been enrolled at Valassy Institute of Cosmetology and making satisfactory academic progress prior to being called to active duty.

The student must return within 5 years of the last day of attendance.

The student must re-enroll within 60 days of the end of their tour of duty.

The student must prove they were in good standing with the military upon completion of their tour of duty
The process for military re-admission is the same as a new student enrollment, with tuition charged at the rate in effect at the time the student originally enrolled, not to extend beyond 5 years of withdrawal. Valassy Institute of Cosmetology does not offer program incompletes, repeat courses, or non-covered remedial courses.
